Inspiring Stories: British Military Wives Choir with Gareth Malone

"We shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender." Winston Churchill

Music has been described as the food of the soul. Everyone has an emotional connection to one form or music or the other. However getting people to sing professionally (especially if they are not interested or never really done it before) can be a daunting task. This seems to be a specialization that Gareth has acquired.

Gareth Malone, popularly known for his BBC2 series "The Choir" is accomplished Choir animateur, singer and presenter, whose has the niche for getting people with very little singing experience to form a formidable choir. What is most intriguing is how he gets the people to believe in themselves and sing!

Lesson: Whatever you know how to do, do it well and for the benefit of all. Every gift you have can put a smile on someone's face forever.

The British Military Wives Choir is made up of wives and girlfriends of serving military men directed by Gareth Malone. These group of "regular" women have been given an outlet to express their emotions and show to the world what it is like to be in their position. Their song "Where you are" written by Paul Mealor is set to become a Christmas No1!

Lesson: Anyone can be anything they want to be, if they set their minds to it and have the right leader/mentor to guide them. Find your outlet and express yourself.

Let's support these outstanding women. Every proceed goes to two charities that support the armed forces and their families. For more information, you can check the following links
