Santa meets Jesus: A Post-Christmas Conversation

Santa: Hey Jesus
Jesus: Hey Santa, how are you?
Santa: Very well. Slightly tired, been around the world in one night *yawns*
Jesus: I see. You're getting too old for this, any plans to retire soon?
Santa: Retire? Nah, the world needs me. They need to believe I'm real. So I can't retire
Jesus: I'm not so sure about the "believe" part. Humans find it hard to believe in what they can't see.
Santa: I don't know about you but I've been around a long time to know they do. You just need the right story.
Jesus: Story?

Inspiring Stories: British Military Wives Choir with Gareth Malone

"We shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender." Winston Churchill

Music has been described as the food of the soul. Everyone has an emotional connection to one form or music or the other. However getting people to sing professionally (especially if they are not interested or never really done it before) can be a daunting task. This seems to be a specialization that Gareth has acquired.

Event Review: WE-III : The Love Affair @ Graceland London

The Love Affair. It was everywhere - Facebook, Twitter, Text Messages, Emails - so much buzz generated about the event and it was finally a relief when on the Saturday evening "lovers" gathered for a night of music and worship organised by Alexander Victor & Altarsound.

Alexander Victor, Altarsound and WE-III: Trick or Treat?

It's 11.00pm, thursday night in leyton. A group of people are chatting away, getting to know each other better and catching up with lots of jokes + laughs. 11.20pm, the leader calls their attention and after a prayer session they get to the business of the night. It's the first joint rehearsal of Alexander Victor and Altarsound with guest ministers. With Aaron T Aaron, Toye D Toye and Gina Gee in the house and Jake Isaac expected to arrive any moment, it looks like an interesting night.

Question what are these guys all about? What's all the buzz about WE-II "The Love Affair" every minute on Facebook? Is this another "trick" to get us hyped up or a special "treat" for everyone?

Let's find out!

Is "JesusWeen" the christian alternative to "Halloween"?

Nothing stirs up more debate than issues that create a sense of contention between those of a particular belief system and popular view. As with most religions, Christianity has always had to answer questions when taking stands for or against popular culture. So I was intrigued when I read a column in a newspaper, stating the existence of "JesusWeen",

Have you killed your Gadaffi?

Muammar Gadaffi - the king of kings

Is he dead? Or is it just pranks been played on human intelligence? Another propaganda sponsored by the "powers that be" to make us believe what they want us to?

These are questions that we may or may not get clear answers to. But one thing is certain - a group of people had enough of over 40 years of one man's tyranny and decided it was time to rise up! And they were ready to pay the price with their blood! And yes, they did!

What price have you paid to get what you want?

Movie Review: Real Steel - The Fight to Survive

"If you get one shot, make it real"
A mix of excitement, emotion plus a touch of life lessons - that's what you get from the movie REAL STEEL. It's not often you get this kind of mix in an action flick. But what amazes me the most is the connection you feel with the characters portrayed - even the robots!

So what's so real about the steel?

Event Review: Jemi's Album launch with Alexander Victor, Dayo Bello, His Levites band, Mayowa, Sophy-yah, MC Mark, Shola Victor Sajowa and David Aliyu

When "African" meets "contemporary" and you add a spice of jazz with a plate full of soulful  rhythms, what do you get? That was my personal experience at the launch of Jemi Nwadike's album - "His Perfect Will" on Saturday, October 15 2011 at the Greenwich West Community & Arts Centre.

My first observation was the music from the band. When you've got "His Levites" band in the house, trust you get all the groove and perfection! It was absolutely on point. (I still wonder where the drummer gets his energy from though, redbull or "heavendove"? lol).

Blackberry Customer vs Apple Fan vs Android Fanatic

Admit it, you belong to one of these categories! The world is driven by the smartphone craze [that is for those who haven't caught the tablet bug yet :-)]. I came across a tweet recently during the "blackberry blackout" about blackberry customers and apple fans. Sounded quite interesting, so I set out to discover my personal analysis.

Blackberry Customer
The last 2-3 days were probably "unbearable" for obsessive pinging machines (I mean people who use blackberry messenger). And yes, some had a needed break from funny and ridiculous broadcasts (I still wonder why some think blackberry won't contact a customer directly but will decide to use a broadcast on blackberry messenger to send messages...ridiculous isn't it?).

Book Review: "Maximised Manhood" by Edwin Louis Cole

Few books written about men, for men and by a man can claim to hold the answers to the problems confronting men in this 21st century. Yet this timeless book manages to capture this in great essence and describe in vivid terms why men should take responsibility for solving the issues in our modern world.

How To Sing the September Song

September is significant for various reasons around the world. A few examples:
  • Father's day celebrated on the first Sunday of September in Australia and New Zealand
  • Brazil's independence day is September 7, Chile's September 18, Mexico's September 16 and Uzbekistan's September 1.
  • First Monday in September is Labour day in USA and Canada
  • September 11 is Patriot day in USA in honour of those who lost their lives in the September 11 2001 attack.
"From a Christian point of view of course we do want a peaceful world, and I think September 11 did actually make people aware not only of vulnerability and how transitory life is, but there are forces of good and honour and justice which speak to us of God and his love for us.  George Carey

Inspiring Stories: Steve Jobs, his apple and the world

"Steve Jobs is a genius. He is an innovator. A visionary. He is perhaps the most beloved billionaire in the world." Andrew Ross Sorkin (NY Times)
How a college drop-out convinced the world of his capacity to be a genius never stops to intrigue anyone. An adopted child who slept on the floor in his friends' rooms and relied on free meals went on to rule the world. Sometimes you wonder how he does it or what he is thinking.

SMILE - Recession and Depression Therapy

"After every storm the sun will smile; for every problem there is a solution, and the soul's indefeasible duty is to be of good cheer." William R. Alger
This is not exactly a good time in the world. There's the fear of a "second recession" in the USA. The effect of the recent riots in the UK still lingers with businesses counting their losses and families grieving the loss of loved ones. Spending cuts, stock market gloom, retirement benefits seeming insufficient and a sense of disorder around the world - it doesn't look like good times, does it?

So why smile?

When Violence speaks: Reflections on the Tottenham Riots

"I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent." Mohandas Gandhi
It was a sad day by all account, when anarchy and destruction ruled the streets; and greed took centre stage. Reflecting on it now and seeing the amount of destruction that has happened the question is what has been achieved?

The God Factor

Everyone knows "The X Factor" TV Show. It's a massive "interactive talent music show" created by Simon Cowell and has grown into a franchise with an international audience. Amazing, isn't it? A huge emotional following by a massive international audience of various age groups, probably one of the biggest shows on TV.

Out of deep curiosity and desire for knowledge, I set about to research if there was any such thing as the GOD factor. While there's still a huge debate about the existence of God and various scientific theories been expounded to explain the theory of the universe, my sole aim was to discover if there existed an explanation on how the presence of God could create a positive effect in a person's life.

Be "Augustified" - The Limitless experience

"And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further. With your mind power, your determination, your instinct, and the experience as well, you can fly very high. " Ayrton Senna (Three-time Formula One Champion)
It's a new month and as always expectations are high. I thought about what experience I would like to have this month and the word "Augustified" came to mind. It doesn't exist in the dictionary (not yet) so I set about finding a definition. Then I remembered the movie "Limitless" and that was it!

The Success Mandate

"The great use of life is to spend it for something that will outlast it." William James
There is a mandate given to every human to take charge and make his/her own way. The choice to succeed or fail is a personal decision, to choose none is to cease to exist.

The School of Life

The mind of the intellectual is constantly open to the input of knowledge, for only those who desire not to exist will graduate from the school of life's experiences.
"The ear that hears the rebukes of life will abide among the wise." King Solomon
In the heart of man is found the source, the magnetic force that attracts the essence of life - good or bad.

The Wanting, the Waiting and the Manifesting

"The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential... these are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence." Confucius
Everyone average human has an innate desire to succeed and achieve. Because when a man loses the will to succeed, a reverse process is engaged in the very fabric of what makes up his/her psychological system - that is called failure.

The challenge with succeeding is it is a long, process tedious process. It's like standing in a long queue when you could just see your destination right in front of you but you can't jump the line. It's almost like life has formulated a set of rules guiding the path we need to walk, and if anyone flaunts the rules he/she automatically engages life in an unnecessary struggle for survival.

So what do we do?

We wait!

Hold on to the will, the strong desire and determination to keep going. I personally find this difficult in real practical application but I find the more you keep going, the more strength you get to overcome the next challenge.

Great things are bound to manifest for those who wait and fix their eyes on the prize.

Take a stand. Want it, Wait for it, See it manifest!

"The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will." - Vince Lombardi

The Fear of Fear

The fear of fear is as complicated as fear itself, but fear's influence is as limited as the choices you make in dealing with it.

Fear needs a "stimulus" to be activated. The choice of stimulus is a conscious and personal decision - a spider, stage fright, the sight of a gun etc. In my opinion, an influential stimulus that affects most humans is probably the fear of failure.

The Go-Getter and the Getting

Go-Getting isn't so much about where you want to go or what you are getting. It's a cumulation of the fact that you made a decision to take a step. Often times life presents us with difficult decisions to make and the easiest route is to the path of least resistance.

the WWI Project

The Vision is
1. to create a platform where people can share positive, inspiring and uplifting words from across the globe;
2. to utilise the power of positive words to effect positive change;
3. to reach out to people who might be in distress.

There are times in our lives when we can't explain what's happening around us. It seems like the world is turning against you and you are sinking into this dark, unending tunnel.

You scream for help but no sounds come out. It's like you've suddenly lost your voice...and the will to keep going is diminishing.

In times like this I simply look for a WORD. Not just any word but the RIGHT WORD to inspire me. I seek re-assurance that its just a temporary storm.
What is uncertain is when you'll have these moments. But it is certain they will come and you'll need the right word to inspire you.

That's the whole essence of this project - sharing your thoughts. Those words in you seeking expression might be what someone needs to get inspired. SHARE IT! It could save a life. A life saved is a generation redeemed.

I look forward to what you'll share here. Listen to the voice of that helpless souls, hear the faint whisper for help - WRITE, SHARE, INSPIRE!
