Event Review: Altarsound's OASIS February 2012 - did heaven come down?

Following on the heels of the "Worship Experience - III" held November last year and previous 5 editions, expectations were high as Altarsound Ministries announced the first OASIS event for 2012 to be held Saturday February 18. The theme "Piping Heaven Unto The Earth" raised eyebrows with many wondering and questioning - what's the rationale behind this?

According to the visioneer Pastor Alexander Victor, OASIS aims to be a forum "to connect with God in worship, prayer, Bible exposition, manifestations of the Holy Spirit along with fantastic food and fellowship as always!"

With so much events currently centered around the worship theme, it's daunting to see how OASIS will be any different?

Here's an account of my personal experience:

Attendance:
There was an unexpected surge in attendance with the hall of about 150 sitting capacity filled to full capacity! The first guest arrived at about 7am for a programme supposed to start at 8am, a far cry from past OASIS events I have attended. It was amazing to see people coming from as far as Manchester and Basildon to London very early on a Saturday morning!

Agenda and Guests Ministers:
The firebrand Pastor Wonu (Omowonuola Adefala) lead the worship (awesome and intense) with a group of musicians and singers who probably had never met or rehearsed together.

Pastor Alexander Victor gave a brief introduction on the vision for OASIS, injecting a few words of wisdom on the concept of worship and the kingdom lifestyle.

Apostle Opeyemi taught on "Kingdom Worship" and released some interesting insights on the connection between the prophetic and worship (see video below for an excerpt of the sermon).

The Elder Tayme Tee gave a thought-provoking inroduction to "Effective Musicianship" which he promised to fully divulge in the next month's edition due to time constarint.

The amazing "Eden" band brought a unique sound with songs from their recently released EP "Temporary Home" (available free for digital download here) , maintaining the climax generated from the beginning of the event.

A host of other ministers from different cities around UK were in attendance including Minsters Toye D Toye, Jemmy NwadikeNina Kabesa to mention a few.

Did I mention the food was amazing! and FREE!

Did heaven come down?
While we await the official pictures to be released (No camera phone or personal recordings were allowed), it is subjective to judge if heaven did come down. I would say come for the next edition in March and have a first hand experieince.
If you were at the event, please share your experience by posting a comment on this blog or send an email to adereti.niyi@gmail.com

In the meantime, here is an video excerpt from the event that might give you a better overview (courtesy of Kingdom Uprising Movement). Enjoy.

  2. Oasis Feb 2012 edition was electric, just thinking about it now has an electric effect on me...lol.

For me, the initial FIRE was released with a taste of heaven, as the meeting opened with fervent prayers led by Wunmi Vaughan which engaged Holy Ghost power. We declared His power over the day/event and that power was released in unexpected ways...e.g. Praise Worship with Pastor Wonu, Eden, the Word, a touch of Altarsound on the mics, basket of truth with Pst Ade and even in attendance figures.

I wouldn't quite call Pastor Alex's introduction brief at all...it was very detailed and laced heavily with rhema that inspired those in attendance including myself, and encouraged us to rethink our worship lifestyle and move away from the norm, tradition and culture.

Unfortunately time constraints meant that we couldn't stay at Oasis for the whole day since the Only Most High alone exists outside of such constraints; still for me (and it's subjective I know), heaven kissed the earth (or should that be piped down to earth) when the oasis was released after the event, disguised as rain, to place a SEAL on the anointing, grace & refreshing that had been released for the day! Selah.

March Oasis 2012 - bring it on!!!

  3. Oasis Febuary edition was an amazing time in Gods presence. I was amazed that the hall was about full as we were starting the programme. The worship was heart felt. I would say this is my best oasis ever. I was surprised at the level of exposition made concerning the intimacy needed as children of God with our father. God be praised.

  4. Oasis was simply about God and connecting with Him in raw worship. it was an event to about us but about Him... there was correction (worship and singing how much vocals) there was worship, there was prayer, The word some of which I am still digesting....Praise God!

    March I cant wait..
